Point out which negative aspects of society/ values, media consumption and human
relationships Bradbury fictionalizes in "Fahrenheit 451"

In the Science Fiction novel 'Fahrenheit 451' the author R.Bradbury fictionalizes negative aspects of media consumption and society/values.
The story shows how extreme a society can become. Books are not allowed
but TV-walls and mobile-phones and media players ("seashell radios") are everywhere in the houses of the people.
"Don't read" is a sign of mindlessness and people are not allowed to think for
themselves. The rule to burn books is a rule to stop the independence
of the people. You can exactly see this in the relationships of the humans.
The conversations are superficial and not meaningful. Real emotions and
minds are not expressed. The human communication is characterized by
emptiness and lack of love. All people concentrate on rules and media.
The people take drugs to be happy. The behaviour of the people is therefore not
authentic. In the story the people act like robots, there is no more individuality.
Just few outsiders read books and behave not adapted to the structure of society.
The consequences show a dystopian model of our media-reality.

The people in this book don´t read books, they even burn them and the people who read books, too. The characters in this book have no time for others and for themselves. There is no love. Excessive TV watching is more important than having a meaningful conversation with others. Media are the middle of people's lives. They watch TV on wall-size TV-sets or listen to the radio all day long and even when they sleep like Mildred. Life makes no sense for them. That is why they use drugs and attempt suicide. They do not realize the world around them. They don not know any enjoyment of nature.

One negative aspect of the society in Bradburys ' Fahrenheit 451 ' is that the people in this society don't read books. Also the people burn the books. Furthermore they don't spend time by themselves and for nature. The people have no meaningful conversation, because for that they're watching TV excessively and listen to the radio. One more negative aspect of the society in Bradburys ' Fahrenheit 451 'is that they have no love. A further problem is that they have no permission of conflicting opinions. Furthermore the people have no leisure to read books and this is the big problem. Mareike S.

In 'Fahrenheit 451' the people are controlled by the government, but they don't know that. They are not free to act on their ideas, reading books is strictly forbidden. The reading of books is against the law. The firemen's job is to burn all the books and find people who still have books. There are no time for people, no time for themselves, no independent thinking, no meaningfull conversations. The people drive too fast, they are not able to enjoy nature. Instead of tallking to one another about meaningful things, they prefer watching TV on wallsize sets and listen to the seashell radio. There is no love among the people, but the usage of drugs, emptiness of lives and frequent suicide attempts. The machinery of censorship works in the state and there is a culture of betrayal. Even Montag is betrayed by his own wife and his escape and fake death are shown on TV. So 'Fahrenheit 451' is a dystopia, which warns against technical progress, coldness among the people, total control and the loss of individuality. F. B.

Point out which negative aspects of society, values, media consumption and human relationships Bradbury fictionalizes in "Fahrenheit 451"

The people in "Fahrenheit 451" don't read books; they burn them. Literature is dangerous. They are watching TV on big wall size screens and listen to radios, which they have deeply rooted in their ears.
They also have mobile phones everywhere in the house. That has the consequence that the people don't have to think. Independent thinking is no longer important.
Also the excessive permanent sound of TV, radio and so on has the consequence that the people in Bradbury's "Fahrenheit 451" lose the ability to feel love or to have a normal conversation. The people lose the ability for inspiration.
They can't be inspirired for anything. Their whole life is extraordinarily fast; they also drive so fast, because they think they could miss something when they live (or drive) slower.
But when they live so fast, they lose more than they win.
They lose friendships, they lose the ability to feel something.
And when you are different, you are an outsider and you are an enemy and free for hunting and killing.

Point out which negative aspects of society/values, media consumption and human relationships Bradbury fictionalizes in "Fahrenheit 451"
In his science-fiction novel "Fahrenheit 451" Bradbury creates people, who are so futuristic that they do not read books, the firemen have to burn every book that they hear of (even the house where the books are in). And even nature is uninteresting for the people. Because of the high-speed cars and technical equipment, they do not have any time for themselves or meaningful conversations. Instead of that, the people watch TV and listen to a Seashell radio. Their life is quite empty because there is no love anymore. They use drugs and often try to commit suicide because they have no real freedom, even for thinking and acting. Instead of books, the people use "parlour walls", very big and small TVs, which are hanging on the wall, and they use "Seashells", a small headset for listening to the radio. The people learn that literature is morbid and dangerously complex. Robots, mechanical hounds, are a kind of policemen, which always (should) kill the person, who they are searching for.
The superficiality of human relationships brings emptiness into everyone's life.
All in all the people are lazy, without imagination and always busy. Even if there is someone who tries to think, walk, enjoy life and read, he/she will be arrested by the firemen and robots, because the person could be dangerous.
If one can break the rules, another one could do it, too, and so there is absolutely no way to use your brain and imagination. The main character "Montag" is able to break out. He starts reading and thinking and leaves the city. But the citizens think he is dead, because of a propaganda trick. On TV Montag is shown, being killed by a mechanical dog. So inside the city everything is okay. The rules are strict and the firemen and robots are able to follow and use them. The government want to show how strong they are and obliterate the city with atomic bombs. Montag survives and rebuilds a new civilization.

In Bradbury´s Fahrebheit 451, you cna find many negative aspects of society values, media consumption and human relationship. The people in this futuristic American city are not allowed to read books. There are firemen to burn down books. The people watch only TVs or listen to radios. The people dont´t comunicate with each other because if they watch TV they are distracted by the big TV walls and if they listen to the radio, they have headphones in their ears. The Goverment dictates to the inhabitants of their state or city what they have to watch or listen to. They aren´t independent in their thougths. The sucide rate in the city is very high. People who think differently are hunted down and of course you can watch that on TV, too. If they aren´t succsessful in hunting they fake the death of the hunted people by killing someone else.

In the book "Fahrenheit 451", Ray Bradbury shows a dangerous
society. The people do not read books and enjoy nature.
They believe in media. The people do not have independent
thinking and any time for themselves. They are caught within themselves. The people watch TV and believe that the media are reality. Also they listen to the sea shell radio and watch the interactive TV shows like "The Family". The people in the society are not emotional. They do not love each other. They live in isolation. The system manipulates the people and controls them.
You can say they control each other. The people do not need relationships. They do not talk about important things and feelings. In this society literature is dangerous and complex and so firemen burn the books. People do not think. The system is controlled by the firemen. People who want to have conversations or read books have to do that secretly. This society ,I think, is very dangerous, because nobody thinks about what is right or wrong.I think a society needs education and meaningful conversations are very important to understand what is wrong in this world.

————————————————————————————

In his book "Fahrenheit 451" Bradburry shows many negative aspects of a fictional future society. The reading of books is forbidden and most of the people have no interest in this anyway. The people have no independent will and the omnipresent media tell them what they have to think. Also the people have no interest in nature. The fire brigade burns books instead of extingushing fires. The book burning and the uniforms of the firemen refer to Nazi Germany. People are so fixed on the interactive TV shows that this is more important to them than company or time for themselves. Even hunts for criminals can be watched live on TV. Because of this, there is complete anonymity. Books are declared as morbid and dangerous because they raise peoples' hopes that can´t be fulfilled and so the books deserve incineration. In this future society people also betray each other by informing the fire brigade about an illegal possession of books. There is no love of people and no communication and all human relationships are only superficial, even between couples.

————————————————————————————

In Ray Bradburys novel " Fahrenheit 451", he shows the negative aspects of society/values, media consumption and human relationships in a fictional society.
In this fictional society, book reading is not allowed; there are no enjoying of nature, no time for people for themselves and no independent thinking. These "human" aspects are forbidden. the media tell the people what they have to think. It is not allowed to have books. When books are found in a citizen's house, they are burned.
Also it is not allowed to read books. When someone reads a book,he can get feelings and this isn't good for the people themselves and the society. So the people are watching TV and listening to seashell radio all the long day.
The people are so fixed at watching the interactive shows on TV that they lose an eye for the beauty and important things of life like leisure for themselves, for each other or other important things of human relationships.
The human relationships between the people are also bad.
There is a big emptiness in the people's lives. Every person is living for himself and doesn't know what the other person is thinking or doing. They live in a society, in which one person betrays the other only to protect himself. The people see no reasons to communicate with each other for a longer time or to give love to each other.
They live completely isolated.
